Grain bin designs I’ve worked on and built

I’ve designed and built many grain bin projects – mostly with the field built monolithic SIP but some have been framed (against my advice) and some have been uninstalled such as the Haiti Relief bins and my back yard experiment – which is where the idea for the relief bins came from. I’ve developed my own insulation pumps for the SIPs for under $100 which allows the owner to build when and where they want, and at significant savings and increased quality, if they have a modicum of mechanical aptitude. These are some of my designs – many are not included here and others are on the dreamgreenhomes website under “manufactured”. Such potential – usually round and spherical shapes are the domain of very high end and government/religious structures – not any more – if you want you can clad them with other materials but I rather like the corrugations – a nice scale of shade pattern –  reminds me of the texture of 3″ lap siding on old Victorians. Many people cannot design in the round – they tend to just fill up a container with plan stuff rather than use the form to make the design better. I love the challenge.
